Payment and Settlement Processing (Maker / Checker)

Process and settle remittances and transactions (local & cross-border) initiated by internal business units, utilizing core payment systems (SWIFT, RENTAS, IBG, Vostro / Nostro, CIPS).

Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely execution of payment instructions (local & foreign currency) received from branches and internal departments, adhering to strict deadlines and SLAs.

Participate in or lead initiatives to enhance system automation and reduce manual operations.

Act as first-level maker / checker for SWIFT / CIPS payment instructions, validating details and ensuring adherence to procedures and controls.

Proactively monitor SWIFT message routing for accuracy and confirm all transmissions meet established service level agreements (SLAs).

Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and operational issues by collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders (e.g., Treasury, Compliance, Branches) and correspondent banks via internal platforms and secure communication channels.

Perform and verify End-of-Day (EOD) balancing and reconciliation tasks, ensuring all transactions are fully processed, accurately accounted for, and reconciled against system totals and transaction reports.

Prepare and submit required statistical reports to management and regulatory authorities on monthly and quarterly schedules.

General Duties

Continuously review and identify opportunities to enhance operational procedures for greater efficiency, accuracy, and risk mitigation.

Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system upgrades and new deployments to ensure operational readiness before production implementation.

Liaise effectively with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and ensuring operational activities consistently meet compliance standards and internal controls.

Coordinate with relevant departments (e.g., IT) and regulatory bodies (e.g., BNM) to participate in Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Plan (BCP / DRP) activities.

Provide coverage and operational support for teammates during their absences to ensure uninterrupted operations workflow.

Execute any additional ad-hoc tasks or projects assigned by the Section Head, Department Head, or Senior Management to support overall operational objectives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor degree in finance, banking, accounting or equivalent from a reputable university.

At least 5 to 8 years of experience incore banking system. Preferably familiar with banking products and operations of banking industry.

Proficient with Python, SQL, VBA or other programming languages would be added advantage.

Capability in working independently and performing multiple tasks within tight deadline.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Proficient in Windows Microsoft Office (e.g. Words, Excel, etc), data management and basic programming skill.

Good verbal and written communication skills in English, Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia.
