Community Engagement Lead (Johor Bahru)
Role Summary
The Community Engagement Lead will represent our client in engaging with local government, residents, and community stakeholders for its datacenter project in Johor Bahru.
This role focuses on building trust , managing stakeholder relationships , and ensuring smooth community cooperation throughout the construction and operational phases.
The ideal candidate has strong community relations, government affairs, or corporate communications experience , especially within infrastructure, energy, property, or large development projects .
Key Purpose of the Role
To manage, communicate, and mitigate community-related risks linked to datacenter project in Johor Bahru by :
- Developing and executing a Community Engagement Plan
- Managing relationships with local residents, government bodies, and business groups
- Leading public consultations , town halls , and stakeholder meetings
- Monitoring public sentiment, media, and political developments
- Ensuring transparent, proactive communication about the datacenter project
Main Responsibilities
1. Community & Stakeholder Engagement
Execute community engagement plans and provide weekly progress reports.Represent the company in community and stakeholder meetings.Build strong relationships with local political leaders, government officials, residents, and business groups.2. Event & Consultation Management
Organize public consultations, briefings, and town hall meetings.Handle all logistics, materials, and follow-up actions after engagements.3. Political & Resident Relations
Engage municipal leaders and key decision-makers.Address community concerns proactively and provide accurate project information.4. Monitoring & Reporting
Track local sentiment and issues in the media and community.Provide bi-weekly reports on community risks, public feedback, and media analysis.Maintain updated records of all engagement activities and outcomes.5. Communications & Messaging
Develop key messaging frameworks , communication materials, and blog content for the client In Your Community site.Collaborate with client communications and construction teams to ensure consistent messaging and effective issue management.Qualifications & Experience
Fluent in English and Bahasa Melayu .Proven experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations , or public affairs , ideally tied to land development or infrastructure projects .Experience managing cross-functional programs with government, private, and community stakeholders .Strong communication and presentation skills , able to simplify complex information for public understanding.Ability to analyze community risks , summarize findings, and influence decision-making.Strategic thinker who can lead, support, and execute communication plans independently.Preferred
Prior experience working in or with communities in Johor Bahru .Exposure to large-scale infrastructure, construction, or energy projects .Experience handling sensitive community or political issues .Job Details
