Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to lead our extended hours provision for the Early Years Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for our youngest learners beyond regular school hours, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for them.
Responsibilities
- Program Leadership & Development : Design, implement, and lead a dynamic and enriching extended hours program for nursery-aged children (e.g., after-school care, holiday clubs). Develop engaging themes, activities, and routines that align with early years learning goals and the school's values.
- Child-Centered Provision : Ensure all activities and the environment are tailored to the developmental needs, interests, and abilities of individual children, promoting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
- Safeguarding & Well-being : Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection at all times. Oversee the safety and well-being of all children in the extended hours provision, adhering to all school policies and statutory requirements.
- Play-Based Learning : Facilitate a rich and varied play-based learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and independence.
- Staff Supervision & Collaboration : Potentially supervise and mentor support staff within the extended hours team. Collaborate closely with the nursery teaching staff and leadership to ensure continuity of care and learning between the core school day and the extended provision.
- Parent Communication : Establish and maintain positive and open communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child's progress and experiences within the extended hours program. Address any concerns promptly and professionally.
- Resource Management : Effectively manage resources, equipment, and learning materials for the extended hours provision, ensuring they are well-maintained, accessible, and promote learning.
- Record Keeping & Administration : Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and observations, as required by school policy and regulatory bodies.
- Professional Development : Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with best practices in early childhood education and extended care provision.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.Significant experience working with early years children (ages 3-5), ideally within a school nursery or similar setting.Demonstrable experience in planning and delivering engaging, play-based learning activities.Knowledge of early years frameworks (e.g., EYFS if applicable to your region) and child development.Experience in leading or coordinating a program or team is highly desirable.A valid First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain one).Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.Skills & Attributes
