R&D manager

About the role

SCGM BHD is seeking an experienced R&D Manager to join their team in Kajang, Selangor. In this full‑time, permanent role, you will be responsible for leading the research and development initiatives to drive innovation and continuous improvement in our food technology and safety processes. Reporting to the Head of R&D, this is a pivotal position that will have a direct impact on the success and growth of our business.

What you'll be doing

Oversee and coordinate the R&D team to execute on the company's innovation and product development roadmap.

Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify new opportunities for product and process improvements.

Lead the design, development and testing of new food processing technologies, methodologies and products.

Ensure R&D projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with the production, quality and operations teams to implement new technologies and processes.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations and best practices in food technology and safety.

Manage the R&D budget and resources effectively.

Mentor and develop the R&D team to build a high‑performing, innovative culture.

What we're looking for

Minimum 5 years of experience in an R&D management role, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.

Degree / Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Strong technical expertise in food processing technologies, quality control, and product development.

Proven track record of leading successful R&D projects from ideation to commercialisation.

Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Experience in budget planning and resource management.

Strong team leadership and people management skills.
