About Muara
Muara Arts is a modern and contemporary art centre with more than 1,000 square metres of gallery space, housed within heritage, pre-war shop lots in Kuala Lumpurs historic core. Focusing on the art of Southeast Asia, Muara will feature special exhibitions, projects and collection displays. Scheduled to officially open in H1 2026, it is the first phase of a larger revitalisation project in Medan Pasar and the broader KL heritage zone, establishing a vibrant cultural hub and setting the stage for future additions.
Role Overview :
The Operations and Production Coordinator (or Manager) plays a key role in managing Muaras operations, building services and exhibition production.

Director and General Manager
Key Responsibilities :
Operations
Responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the
building.
Ensure that operational systems and processes are
functioning efficiently, including but not necessarily limited to building maintenance and resources, operational procedures, technical services, security and other building activities.
Develop and maintain operational policies, procedures and
compliance with safety and security standards.
Support the induction of staff and contractors working in
the building, ensuring compliance to the safety and other protocols.
Building Services
Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the building,
implement and monitor a proactive maintenance programme.
Ensure all gallery spaces are secure, well-maintained and
conditioned in line with international standards.
Managing key maintenance, technical and security building
contracts including scheduling and supervising contractors when necessary.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee repairs, upgrades, and
improvements to building systems and technical equipment.
With the Exhibitions Manager and Registrar, monitor and
maintain appropriate environmental conditions within gallery spaces.
Identify and conduct electrical, mechanical and sanitary
maintenance where appropriate, while coordinating specialist contractors for more complex works.
Manage procurement and inventory of equipment, tools,
maintenance supplies and other consumables to support operations.
Exhibition Production and Events Logistics
Work with the Curators, Exhibition Manager and external
contractors, including art handlers, art movers and other vendors to ensure that artworks are delivered, packed / unpacked, handled and installed to museum standards.
Oversee the hiring and supervision of build contractors, art
handling technicians and other exhibition-related vendors.
Support internal and external events set up / dismantling and
any breakdown (troubleshoot).
Health and Safety and Sustainability Policies
Other
Ensure effective systems are in place for reporting and
responding to incidents and accidents within the building.
Work with the Finance team to update and monitor budgets
and process invoices.
Liaise with the café, gift shop and other external vendors
operating on site to ensure smooth operations.
Any other duties reasonably requested by the Founders or
Senior Management Team.
Role Requirements
Experience in tendering, procurement and contract management.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, HSSE standards and security systems.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 5 years experience in managing operations, facilities, and / or exhibition
production within a museum, gallery or auction house.
Strong technical skills, including artwork installation and knowledge of safe
operation of scissor lifts or aerial work platforms.
Proficiency in IT systems with the ability to troubleshoot technical and gallery-
related equipment / software.
Technical knowledge of lifting equipment, power tools, and audiovisual (AV)
systems.
Strong administrative and documentation skills, meticulousness and accuracy.
