Head of Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical)
The Head of Engineering is a leadership role that is responsible for overseeing all engineering activities across multiple manufacturing facilities. The role focuses on the maintenance, facility management, and expansion projects to ensure efficient operations, compliance with environmental standards, and continuous improvement of plant infrastructure. This position requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of production processes.
Responsibilities : Maintenance
To lead, improve, coordinate and supervise all maintenance activities and projects that include but not limited to respective staff management, inter department coordination, plant operability, efficiency and maintainability, safety, health and environment and cost efficiency.
To create, improve and coordinate all maintenance activities in the facilities including analyzing equipment needs, reliability issues, developing preventive / predictive maintenance programs.
Lead maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi‑skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works.
Provide technical expertise to the team.
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy.
Procurement & Inventory Management
Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market change and potential effects on engineering design and development. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost.
Prepare the annual maintenance budget and ensure proper budget utilisation.
Manage the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, plant and equipment from gaining agreement to write off to physically removing it and its safe and lawful disposal.
Team Management
Design and develop long‑term human resource planning, development and training.
Coach, mentor, train and develop subordinates to meet current and future business requirements.
Develop competencies and skills of maintenance team.
Authority Compliance
To monitor on continuously update the Standards of Operations & Procedure, Engineering Practices and Plant Safety Procedure.
Ensure all regulatory standards are followed along with health, safety and environmental requirement.
Ensure equipment health status for renewal of Certificate of Fitness.
Ensure maintenance activities comply with SOP of the organisation.
Project / Upgrade
Establish team to work on projects which align to the organization’s objective.
Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required.
To lead, supervise, coordinate and monitor the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Oversee all plant upgrades and project progress. main contact point for stakeholders, field staff and contractors.
Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant and equipment from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
Improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans.
To lead and monitoring productivity improvement programs when necessary.
Others
Perform other duties as assigned by Superior.
Ensure well documentation on planning, production & maintenance records, training, compliance standards, safety and environment and others.
Job Requirements :
Candidate must be possess at least Diploma / Degree / Master in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering with strong technical background.
At least 10 year(s) of working experience in the related field.
Communicate effectively both oral and writing to technical and non-technical persons.
Able to read and interprets P&ID diagrams, drawings and specifications .
Experience in management, project planning and maintenance.
Details, specific and hands‑on in approach with good analytical skills.
High commitment on execution, aggressive, dynamic and result oriented.
Cooperates externally with customers, vendors, and other facilities.
Demonstrates behaviour that meets Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety, and Good Housekeeping requirements.
Details, specific and hands‑on in approach with good analytical skills.
Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required. Proficiency in Mandarin is added advantage.
Traveling between different facilities are expected, within Klang Valley.
