Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Structural Engineer
with expertise in
vessel life extension, fatigue analysis, and structural reinforcement
for LNG carriers, FSRUs, and floating energy units. The engineer will perform high-level or Pre-FEED level assessments depending on the availability of detailed hull engineering data, with the goal of enabling
20+ years of safe operation post-conversion . Key Responsibilities
Life Extension Assessment
Conduct fatigue analysis and evaluate vessel structure for 20 years of additional operation. Assess structural integrity, corrosion allowances, and feasibility of conversion for floating LNG operations.
Structural & Stability Studies
Analyze deck load capacity for regasification equipment, vaporizers, compressors, and skids. Perform Center of Gravity (CoG) and freeboard adjustment checks to ensure vessel stability post-modification. Review intact and damaged stability scenarios using available data or reference assumptions.
Hull & Structural Reinforcement
Identify conceptual hull reinforcements or modifications to support heavy process equipment or LNG buffer tanks. Evaluate the impact of new loads on hull strength, including thermal loads, dynamic loads during STS (ship-to-ship) operations, and operational constraints.
Conversion Feasibility
Perform high-level assessments when detailed hull engineering data is unavailable, leveraging assumptions and reference databases. Where hull details are available, carry out Pre-FEED level assessment covering all critical structural and stability considerations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Offshore / Structural Engineering, or Marine Engineering. Minimum 10–15 years of experience in structural analysis for ships, FPSOs, or FSRUs. Strong knowledge of classification society rules (ABS, DNV, BV, etc.) and IMO stability requirements. Demonstrated experience with :
Fatigue analysis and hull life extension studies. Conversion feasibility for LNG carriers or floating regasification units. Stability analysis (intact and damage). Load and strength assessments.
Proficiency in stability software (GHS, NAPA, MOSES, or equivalent). Familiarity with process load integration for regasification topsides is highly desirable. Preferred Skills
Experience with LNG-to-Power projects, FSRU conversions, or offshore vessel upgrades. Ability to prepare high-quality Pre-FEED deliverables, reports, and presentations for clients. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under limited input data. Additional Information
