MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
GENERAL
- Develops and formulates sales strategies
- Sets objectives for the Sales Department
- Surveys rate structures of competing markets and competitors and proposes new rate structures to General Manager for discussions whenever deemed necessary.
- Prepares and forwards periodical surveys about competition and competing markets.
- Maintains and develop effective employee relations where it relates to Sales.
- Sets up and implements policies and guidelines for the department
SALES ACTIVITIES
Promotes the image of the hotel.Creates new contracts, negotiates contracts and generates sales.Provides personalized services together with the staff to selected customers, agents and operators.Monitors activities and performance of all assigned staff.Co-ordinates sales and promotes business for the hotel locally.Investigates potential markets by studying various reference and industry publications for sales leads.Invites and entertains selected operations, agents and representatives.MARKETING ACTIVITIES
Participates as an active member of the community through association memberships and other trade organizations.Reviews regularly the internal promotion pieces for visual effect.Investigates potential markets by :Receiving Sales & Marketing Department and Front Office correspondence.Analyzing guest history and registration card files.Studying guest questionnaires.Reviewing government statistics on visitor arrivals.Analyzing competition's sales and promotion effortsStudying various reference and industry publications for sales leads.Recommends to the General Manager the kind of promotion and advertising which will be most productive for the hotel by analyzing the market effectiveness of past promotion and advertising campaigns.REPORT & STATISTICS
Forwards a weekly or bi-weekly sales report as well as daily report of the sales staff's activities to General ManagerTakes responsibilities for the co-ordination of producing the monthly sales statisticsADMINISTRATION
Conducts such functions as employee orientation, performance appraisal, coaching and counseling and dismissal if necessary to ensure appropriate staffing and productivity.Develops and implements formal training plans for the sales staff.Ensures efficient and reliable administrative support of the sales staff.Supervises and updates promotional material, brochures, slides, tariff sheets, sales kits, give-away etc.Monitors brochures of contracted operators, agents and representatives to ensure correct presentation of features and promotions of the hotel.Checks and forwards updates as needed on status of new contracts (contracts printed, send-out, returned, distributed, entered of the system, filed).Ensures proper internal distribution of contracts and lists of agents, operators and others.Maintains a proper filing system within department to contain all contracts of the various market segments and other documents.Supervises handling of incoming and outgoing correspondences and messages as related to Sales & MarketingEnsures adherence to the Head Office credit lists and its distribution.BRIEFING / MEETING / REPORTS
Conducts department daily briefing with sales staff.Attends the weekly sales meetingAttends the monthly sales meeting together with the Head Office.Perform other duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management or related field or equivalent experienceMinimum of 3+ years' of sales leadership experience7+ years' of experience in sales management within the hospitality industryStrong leadership skills and team management abilitiesPosition is open to all local and permanent residents of Malaysia only
