Data Center Facilities Technician, Electrical

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions, including heating and cooling, power supply, generators, UPS, electrical distribution and monitoring systems. You regularly inspect, maintain and repair data center systems such as piping and electrical or mechanical components.

As an advocate for best practices, you develop approaches to reduce operational costs while improving data center efficiency. You ensure environmental and safety standards are met, identify problems and make repairs quickly. In emergencies, you manage performance issues to minimize recovery time.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage Data Center electrical systems, including medium and low voltage, ensuring uptime through maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, repair, and execution of operational procedures.
• Conduct root cause analysis for service failures, implement recovery and prevention actions, and drive improvements in site Water Usage Effectiveness and Power Usage Effectiveness.
• Lead and support startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment, coordinating vendor support and participating in system design reviews for new projects and modifications.
• Ensure compliance with site environmental health and safety policies and legal requirements, and provide training to the team.
• Maintain operational availability by working 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
