Retail Assistant

PETOPIA is a specialty store focused only on Sugar Gliders. We sell products and provide grooming and boarding. We're hiring a friendly, hands-on Retail Assistant to care for Sugar Gliders, serve customers, and keep the store tidy.

Responsibilities

• Boarding care : Feed, clean, and monitor boarded Sugar Gliders; track daily intake / behaviour; share photo / video updates with owners.
• Grooming : Perform grooming (nail clipping, dry spa, shower) following PETOPIA safety and handling SOPs.
• Merchandising : Replenish display racks, dust and tidy shelves, arrange products logically, and ensure clear price labels.
• Store upkeep : Maintain cleanliness of retail space and boarding rooms; sanitise tools and enclosures per schedule.
• Cashier & checkout : Process payments accurately; manage receipts, bagging, and basic POS functions.
• Customer assistance : Recommend products, answer Sugar Glider care questions, and share best-practice tips (diet, enrichment, habitat, health red flags etc).
• Compliance & safety : Follow hygiene, biosecurity, and animal-welfare guidelines; report incidents promptly; maintain records.
