Job Purpose
The Insurance Business EA (Life & General) plays a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the target architecture that underpins the Bank’s insurance subsidiaries and distribution businesses. This role requires a seasoned leader who can engage effectively with C‑suite and senior executives, conduct in‑depth assessments, and provide clear architecture recommendations that shape insurance transformation decisions.
With a strong focus on life insurance, general insurance, health insurance, and bancassurance distribution, the Insurance Business EA ensures that the business architecture continually adapts to regulatory change, evolving customer needs, and industry modernization trends.
As a key focus area, this role will define and steward the target state of the Bank’s insurance architecture, leading modernization of policy administration systems (PAS), claims management, underwriting, distribution, and customer servicing platforms. It ensures consistency with enterprise‑wide standards, regulatory obligations across ASEAN, and the Bank’s strategic transformation programs. Serving as a bridge between business & technology, the Insurance Business EA ensures that modernization decisions are future‑ready, compliant, and customer‑centric.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Business Architecture Development
Define and maintain the Insurance (Life & General) current and target‑state business architecture aligned to ACORD and BIAN service domains.Identify opportunities to align IT and business strategy to improve underwriting accuracy, claims efficiency, operational resilience, customer experience, and bancassurance conversion.Demonstrated experience in Target Operating Model development across Life Insurance, General Insurance, Bancassurance, and Health Insurance.2. Leadership in Insurance Capabilities
Own the Insurance target‑state architecture (Life & General) and lead stakeholder discussions to continuously align the roadmap.Translate business capabilities (product, pricing, underwriting, policy administration, claims, reinsurance, distribution, customer servicing, fraud) into architectural designs that support transformation.Maintain architecture roadmaps, capability heat maps, and application rationalisation for the insurance domain.Proactively communicate insurance architectural plans and strategies across business and technology stakeholders.3. Governance and Standards Compliance
Ensure initiatives comply with regulatory and actuarial requirements (BNM, OJK, MAS, IFRS 17) and align with enterprise‑wide architectural standards.Govern the implementation of insurance domain standards and patterns across programs and projects.4. Innovation and Research
Ensure solutions leverage next‑generation insurance capabilities (AI‑supported underwriting, digital claims, cloud‑native Policy Admin System (PAS), modular APIs; telematics / IoT where relevant).Stay abreast of industry trends (embedded insurance, ecosystem partnerships, InsurTech, parametric covers).Produce forward‑looking research and impact assessments to inform investment decisions.5. EA & Regulatory Alignment
TOGAF 9.1 / 10, ACORD Reference Model, BIAN Service Landscape & ArchiMate 3BNM RMiT (Malaysia), OJK MRTI (Indonesia), MAS (Singapore) — technology risk, outsourcing, cloud, and resilience expectations for insurance platforms.IFRS 17 — financial reporting standard for insurance contracts.Risk‑Based Capital (RBC) / solvency regimes across ASEAN.PDPA (Malaysia & Singapore) — data privacy and customer data controls.6. KPI / Success Measures Owned
Develop and maintain the Insurance target state architecture, acting as the trusted Enterprise Architect for business and technology leaders to align all digital initiatives with Group strategy.% of Insurance modernization initiatives delivered against the target‑state roadmap.% of Architecture Review Board submissions approved with no high‑risk exceptions.% Reduction of legacy insurance system footprint (PAS, claims, CRM) through modernization.Qualifications and Experience
Typically brings over 15 years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture, including at least 5 years leading insurance architecture (Life and / or General) within financial services.We are particularly interested in senior architects who have shaped insurance transformation strategies, modernized PAS / claims, or implemented IFRS 17 and regulatory‑driven change programs.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related discipline; Master’s degree or professional chartered qualifications in Insurance, Banking, Finance, or Markets (ACII, FLMI, CFA, CA, CB) are highly preferred.Demonstrated track record in insurance core system modernization (PAS, claims, distribution, CRM) and large‑scale business architecture initiatives aligned to enterprise transformation objectives.Desired Skills and Competencies
Demonstrated leadership presence and credibility to lead, influence, and shape architecture discussions with CxO and senior executive stakeholders.Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities; able to translate complex insurance challenges into clear architectural strategies.Proficiency in TOGAF or equivalent architectural frameworks; certifications in TOGAF and ACORD are highly preferred.Experience with insurance core platforms (Life & General), claims, CRM, and distribution ecosystems.Deep understanding of global and ASEAN insurance trends (digital insurance, InsurTech, embedded insurance, regulatory‑driven change).Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex architectural concepts in a clear, compelling manner for executive audiences.Additional Information
