Company Background

We are representing our client, a proud subsidiary of a prestigious conglomerate in Laos with a legacy spanning nearly 50 years. As part of their ongoing regional expansion, they are currently seeking to hire two dedicated Database Administrators  one to be based in Petaling Jaya , and the other in Laos .

Job Responsibilities :

Database Administration :

  • Administer, manage, and optimize relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) on Linux and Windows Server platforms .
  • Install, configure, and maintain database servers and related tools.
  • Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery operations .
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues , optimizing queries and indexes.

System Management :

  • Provide technical support for database-related issues on Linux and Windows Server .
  • Implement and maintain security policies for database access, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Configure and manage storage solutions for database environments, including capacity planning and performance optimization .

    • Storage Management :

  • Collaborate with storage teams to ensure effective database storage management and disaster recovery strategies .
  • Implement and manage SAN / NAS storage technologies in alignment with database requirements.
  • Monitor database storage growth and recommend necessary upgrades.

    • Performance Tuning & Optimization :

  • Optimize databases for high availability, scalability, and performance .
  • Implement indexing strategies, query optimization, and memory tuning .
  • Develop automated scripts for database monitoring and performance reporting.

    • Backup & Disaster Recovery :

  • Ensure regular database backups and maintain reliable disaster recovery procedures .
  • Conduct periodic recovery drills to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime.

    • Collaboration & Support :

  • Work closely with development teams to design database schemas and integrate applications with databases.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to IT teams.
  • Assist with system upgrades, patches, and migrations

    • Job Requirements :

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field .
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator , focusing on Linux, Windows Server, and storage solutions .
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator , managing databases across Oracle Linux / RHEL (79.x) and Windows Server (2019, 2022, 2025) .
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL database management .
  • Proficiency in storage management technologies (SAN, NAS) and database capacity planning .
  • Automation skills : Hands-on experience with shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell) for database management.
  • Experience with database security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning .
  • Advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning skills for high availability environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based databases and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus

    • Position Based in Laos :

  • One way moving allowance of USD 250
  • Working Visa cost to be borne by employer
  • Annual leave - 15 days

  • Special leave - Country of origin's National Day
  • Working hours 8 : 00 to 17 : 30 (Monday to Friday) and 8 : 00 to 12 : 00 (Saturday)
  • Transport to and from office
