Overview

Senior Designer, Structure – MODEC Offshore Production Systems (Singapore) / Offshore Frontier Solutions. OFS Malaysia is a subsidiary of Offshore Frontier Solutions Pte. Ltd. (OFS), a MODEC Group company in Malaysia. This role is based in KL Eco City, Malaysia. Join MODEC’s Kuala Lumpur Offshore Structure Engineering Team to produce complex technical drawings under general supervision, using established procedures, standards, and codes.

Collaborate with Engineers to translate requirements into accurate layouts, 2D / 3D models, and equipment arrangements that support planning, design, and construction. Apply sound judgment to resolve design challenges, maintain drawing registers, ensure compliance, and contribute to reviews. At times, develop original designs to optimize constructability, safety, and operability. Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D / PDMS, Smart 3D) and knowledge of relevant standards are essential. Strong coordination, communication, and attention to detail are required.

Job responsibilities

• Drawing Preparation : prepares complete sets of complex engineering drawings which include drawings from multiple views, detailed and fabrication drawings. Analyzes complex designs and evaluates equipment systems, creates product layouts and generates new designs.
• Prepares layout design of equipment, components, structures, outfitting and systems from sketches, marked-up prints and past references (where applicable) and standard designs and drawings, manufacturer’s catalogs and technical guides.
• 3D Model Development : develops 3D model for marine / topside in AVEVA E3D as per 2D drawings and maintains E3D model accuracy based on Engineering analysis models.
• Weight and Material Take Off : supports Engineers in calculating material weight and prepares MTOs.
• Change Management : prepares documentation and communication such as Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), engineering specifications, design reports and required system documentation in accordance with relevant policies and procedures; performs rework on designs and drawings if required due to revised parameters or changes in concept by Engineers.
• Quality Control : ensures that drawings and 3D models are in accordance with engineering standards, class specifications, and company standards and regulations; performs drafting and 3D modeling checks to ensure all data inputs meet standards to maintain accuracy, quality, and completeness.
• Proposal Preparation : prepares 2D / 3D drawings, 3D models, documentation and presentation slides as part of technical specifications and presentations for project proposals.

Job requirements

Technical Institute, Diploma or Degree in Civil / Structural / Mechanical / Ship Building Engineering with relevant working experience as stated below.
