We are looking for a Customization Design Engineer to support the development, relocation and industrialisation of customized projects. The role transforms customer needs into engineering specifications and unique products, optimising design, driving cost efficiency, and ensuring on‑time delivery of all projects.
Responsibilities
- Apply product knowledge of design, machining, assembly and related processes.
- Design and relocate customer‑specific projects, translating requirements into deliverables.
- Maintain and improve engineering drawings and product documentation.
- Prepare production drawings for fabrication, coordinating with production teams to ensure proper process.
- Design and qualify test equipment for end‑of‑line testing.
- Manage engineering product documentation and coordinate engineering change requests (ECR / ECN) to keep products up to date.
- Support Product & Quality teams with root‑cause analysis and provide technical advice.
- Industrialise new standard and customer‑specific products in collaboration with project managers and design engineers.
- Collaborate on product optimisation with HQ design engineers.
- Provide technical support to NPI products until hand‑off to operations.
- Contribute to cost improvement projects.
- Assist customers together with product management and application engineers.
- Co‑create spare‑part and service kits for the Global Service Engineering team.
- Review designs and apply DFMA principles across departments.
- Participate in PFMEA, DFMEA and design walkthroughs.
- 80% of the time is design‑related, 20% engineering coordination.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.Team player, able to collaborate in a fast‑paced environment.Excellent communication skills and English proficiency.Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.Proficient in 3D‑CAD.Good understanding of GD&T and its practical application.Proactive, agile, creative, and self‑motivated.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CAD software – SIEMENS NX.Experience in change management.Experience in structured project management.Knowledge of vacuum industry technology.Experience designing and applying mechatronic components (motors, sensors, heaters, etc.).Experience in production of cast parts, sheet metal parts, and injection‑moulded parts.VAT is an equal opportunity employer.
