Facilities Engineer – Penang
About the Role
As a CBRE Facilities Engineer, you will supervise the team that coordinates with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure work orders are completed and support Property Managers with all repairs and investment plans.
What You’ll Do
- Facility Management : Coordinate events and activities held in the facility and contractor site visits.
- Maintenance Management : Schedule regular maintenance tasks for equipment and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.), respond to urgent requests and emergencies, manage service contracts, and oversee repairs and maintenance projects.
- System Oversight : Monitor critical building systems using Building Management Systems (BMS) to track performance and efficiency.
- Project Management : Lead or support facility-related projects, including new construction, renovations, and upgrades—managing budgets, timelines, and coordination with contractors and internal teams.
- Procurement Process : Receive scope of work from client or technician, coordinate meetings, initiate bidding with contractors, compile cost comparisons, send for approval, and issue client PO as required.
- Compliance and Safety : Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conduct regular inspections, address hazards, and maintain inspection records.
- Troubleshooting : Respond to system failures and emergencies, diagnose problems, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
- Energy & Sustainability : Implement energy‑saving initiatives and optimize system performance to lower costs and environmental impact.
- Vendor Management : Oversee external contractors and service providers to ensure quality and compliance with contracts and safety procedures.
- Budgeting : Assist in preparing and managing maintenance, repair, and capital improvement budgets.
- Communication & Coordination : Serve as employee point of contact for facility issues, communicate with management, staff, and vendors, and maintain accurate records.
- Asset Management : Manage the lifecycle of facility assets, including replacements and refurbishments.
- Other Duties : Supervise and train maintenance staff and assist with additional facility‑related tasks as assigned.
What You’ll Need
Education : Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or industrial) or facilities management.Experience : 1–3 years of relevant facility management or engineering experience.Technical Knowledge : Strong understanding of MEP systems, HVAC, and BMS.Software Proficiency : Experience with CAD, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.Problem‑solving : Excellent analytical and critical‑thinking skills for diagnosing complex technical problems.Communication : Strong written and verbal skills to convey technical information and collaborate with teams, management, and contractors.Project Management : Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including planning, budgeting, and execution.Optional Certifications : Professional Engineer (PE) license or Facility Management Professional (FMP).Why CBRE
