The School of Film and Performing Arts at Sunway University is seeking a dynamic, experienced Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Film (Production) to join our innovative, expanding BA (Honours) in Digital Film Production programme.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking curriculum that reflects the evolving landscape of screen art and digital storytelling. Our programme is built on a foundation of practice-based learning, creative experimentation, and industry engagement.
We are looking for a candidate with professional experience in film production, particularly in directing, cinematography, editing, and post-production who is enthusiastic about mentoring students, developing cutting-edge curriculum, and building industry partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate modules in film production.
- Supervise student projects and provide academic and creative mentorship.
- Contribute to curriculum development, with a focus on innovation in areas such as film production, digital storytelling, and digital workflows.
- Undertake research and / or creative practice that contributes to the department's academic profile and external recognition.
- Develop and maintain industry partnerships to support student employability, internships, and collaborative projects.
- Participate in departmental activities, including assessment, quality assurance, student support, and academic advising.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the programme and support cross-disciplinary initiatives within the faculty.
Requirements
A postgraduate qualification (Master's or PhD) in Film, Media, or a related discipline.Demonstrable professional experience in film production, with a portfolio of creative work.Experience in teaching and assessing in higher education.Strong understanding of current industry practices, technologies, and workflows.Ability to contribute to research or creative practice with potential for publication, exhibition, or industry impact.Experience in curriculum design and module leadership.Established industry connections and experience in collaborative projects.Familiarity with inclusive pedagogies and diverse storytelling practices.Experience with interdisciplinary or practice-based research.We thank all applicants for expressing their interest in this vacancy.
