Position Summary
Lumileds is seeking a highly-qualified Quality Director for LED & Chip on Board solutions at our two manufacturing facilities in Penang / Malaysia. This position will provide the single technical / quality management and customer interface for all quality functional teams that include Manufacturing, Supplier, Customer and Development Quality as well as Quality Systems. The candidate is required to have excellent technical knowledge to partner with development teams, same time having comprehensive knowledge in quality management, process control, risk and MRB management, failure analysis and reliability testing. Equally important are leadership skills and being able to communicate concisely with both internal teams and external customers.
What You Will Do
- Manages a team of senior leaders (direct and matrix) covering all quality functions, i.e. Engineering, Customer, Supplier, Development and Systems.
- Accountable for the quality aspect of LED and LED module product lines, from early development to high volume production (HVM) to customers. The role is to ensure all the related qualification data, risks & decisions are addressed effectively and on time in full compliance with customer expectations.
- The Director of Quality will own guiding the teams and make decision on new or existing materials, products, processes as well as related issues, the root cause finding that will require process, material, design and equipment integration, covering product risk assessments, MRB and ship release decision.
- The candidate must have good technical & manufacturing experience in semiconductor assembly and testing, while focus knowledge on LED and Chip on board knowledge is an asset. This includes, while not limited to, process control requirements, quality issues and their interacting factors.
- Apply statistical methods and data analysis from development to HVM. It is required the candidate must have sufficient statistical knowledge and hand‑on experience in using JMP or similar, MSA, Cpk / PPK application.
- Lead and guide the Quality and Engineering team to ensure the development and factory operation meets or exceed requirements of APQP, IATF16949 and ANSI / ESD S20.20 standards.
- Drive Quality & Process control data automation to simply the process control and SPC data monitor and enable the real time risk & lot disposition.
- Manage Supplier Quality team to provide end-to-end support from early development, supplier selection & capability assessment, regular audits, driving supplier 8D closure.
- Guide the team in supplier quality risk assessment and support value engineering cost down improvement projects.
- Drive standardization on Supplier Quality Management processes,KPIs, tools, templates and general way of working.
- In this role, he / she will be the primary quality interface with key account customer(s) to ensure customer expectations are met, ability to participate in critical decision with customers and ensure factory quality & customer issues are well managed.
- Responsible for the setting up of Quality Assurance procedures that are followed throughout the plant and be used as a to the Quality Assurance practices in the plant.
- Develop, maintain and improves on the specification / documentation control system to ensure its effectiveness in the process of standardization.
- Leads the division in achieving breakthroughs in major issues that has major / long term impact on Quality / Reliability by focusing effort on developing in depth key engineering knowledge in selected areas.
- Develops Quality Engineering group into a professional group in their own field so that they are able to provide expert advice and consultation on matters relevant to quality assurance, product reliability / requirements and other related matters.
- Ensures the development and implementation of information systems which measure customer satisfaction and the quality of the division's processes, products and services.
- Establishes budget and targets for assigned area of responsibility and manages them.
- Act as Quality Management Representative to maintain and improve QMS that lead to certification for the Penang Factories
- Hire, develops and coaches subordinates for continues improvement and career development.
- Complies with environment, security, health and safety requirements.
What You Will Bring (REQUIRED Qualifications)
Experienced in Semiconductor assembly and packaging, LED and SMT assembly, failure analysis techniques, supplier quality management and reliability stress testingWorked in the Semiconductor and Automotive industry for minimum of 10-15 years with strong working experience in Factory Quality, Supplier Quality Management and Customer Quality.Experience in Front End Semiconductor manufacturing processes (is an asset)Creative and systematic thinking, strong data analysis skills.Excellent problem solving skills (e.g. 8D, WhyWhy Analysis, Ishikawa, PDCA)High proficiency in verbal and written communication.Well experienced in reporting to senior managementExcellent leadership skills, self-driven and results oriented.Ability to work on challenging targets and time pressure, when needed.Passionate in working with and leading a large cross functional teamEducation (Minimum Level)
