About the Job
To conduct credit assessment and monitoring for issuers / borrowers in the Corporate Bonds and Loans (“CBL”) portfolio to identify new investment opportunities and to keep abre of material developments as well as the progress of their underlying sustainability journey to ensure early detection of credit deterioration which could impact GELM’s investment performance.
Responsibilities
- Performs credit analysis of issuers / borrowers (including sector and country assessments, where necessary) to identify appropriate CBL investment opportunities.
- Prepares credit proposals and recommends such investment to the respective approving authorities.
- Reviews and monitors existing CBL exposures on a timely basis.
- Trains and guides junior credit analysts, including reviewing their work.
- Undertakes enhancement and maintenance work on the Internal Credit Scoring Model, ESG Scoring Model, and other relevant databases / processes.
- Prepares regular reports for Senior Management, Risk Management, Finance, and other relevant parties.
- Undertakes specific / ad‑hoc tasks and / or projects related to credit matters.
- Ensures compliance with internal and external policies as well as regulatory requirements.
- Conducts ESG‑focused assessments on issuers / borrowers and carries out engagements to evaluate the credibility of their sustainability targets and progress, identify material ESG risks, and incorporate these insights into credit analysis and investment recommendations.
Qualifications
Minimum tertiary qualification in Business, Economics, Finance, Banking or Accounting. Chartered Financial Analyst or Post Graduate qualification is an added advantage.Minimum 8 years of experience in credit analysis and / or fixed income investments. Comprehensive knowledge of financial statements and financial modelling skills (e.g. cash flow projections).Good knowledge of debt capital market and fixed income instruments (e.g. private debt securities, bonds, and structured products).Good analytical, conceptual, and problem‑solving skills.Meticulous and resourceful.Good written and verbal communication skills.Good financial awareness, mature and organised thinking, and good commercial acumen.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Proficient in negotiation and interpersonal skills.Able to perform under pressure and be goal‑oriented.Good leadership skills.Committed team player with good working relationships.How You Succeed
