Associate Engineer (Project Division) – Southern Region

In this role, you will get hands on experience in supporting the engineering team in the design, development and execution of solar energy projects. You will work closely with senior engineers to analyse project requirements, conduct site assessments and develop detailed engineering plans.
Key Responsibilities
- In assisting lead engineers on technical direction in preparing specifications, proposals and / or contracts for projects, to amongst others :
- develop and complete system designs for PV projects (on‑grid, off‑grid and hybrid systems) including site plans, mechanical racking and attachment plans, single‑line electrical drawings, specification of balance of system (BOS) location, interconnection details and labelling;
- plan and design arrangement of the solar panels for PV projects such as rooftop and ground mounted and other various electrical equipment and selection of cables for plant including layouts and schematic diagrams and calculation of technical sizing; and
- assist to work on the bill of quantity and bill of materials for each project.
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility;
- Provide direct day‑to‑day support, project management and oversight of projects, which include visiting sites and attending to queries by clients and subcontractors / third‑party contractors to ensure high quality work and timely completion;
- Assist to ensure that all projects are delivered on‑time, within scope and within compliance;
- When required, supervise and coordinate solar photovoltaic / energy efficiency installations, repairs and maintenance activities;
- Attend to site inspection visits to take and collate detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of projects. Prepare reports for internal record and discussion;
- Conduct testing and commissioning of PV systems including the setup of remote monitoring system for various systems;
- Assist Assistant Project Manager to plan and schedule project tasks;
- Maintain inventory of equipment, tools and supplies;
- Monitor build progress, preparing sites before construction work begins, supervising subcontractor teams, identifying potential issues and taking proactive measures to ensure timely completion of projects;
- Conduct quality control inspections to verify adherence to standards and specifications and ensure technical proposals comply with electrical codes, regulations and safety standards;
- Ad‑hoc electrical troubleshooting and routine maintenance tasks for project sites (post‑installation);
- Ad hoc projects when required by Management.
Job Competencies Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Renewable Energy) or a related field;Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management within a related industry will be an added advantage;Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams;Candidate must possess own transport and be willing to travel to other states as required by business needs;Willing to be based at Southern Region;Proficiency in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD or similar;Good critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to identify and resolve project‑related challenges;Proficiency in MS Office (in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint);Able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment;Passionate about our energy efficiency solutions and curious about the industry;Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment;Self‑driven and proactive in finding solutions and meeting company objectives.#J-18808-Ljbffr
