The Head of IT Strategy will be responsible for defining, developing, and executing the IT strategy that supports the institution’s overall business objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of both technology and financial services, as well as the ability to align IT initiatives with the company’s long-term vision. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and a collaborative leader who can drive innovation while managing risk and ensuring operational excellence. To enable this vision, a team of enterprise architects will be reporting to this role to align the strategy and the execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and articulate the IT strategy, ensuring alignment with the institution’s business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Identify emerging technologies and trends in the financial sector to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
- Develop a multi-year IT roadmap, prioritizing initiatives that deliver measurable business value.
- Assist in leading and driving the organization’s digital transformation efforts, including the adoption of cloud technologies, data analytics, AI, and automation with Transformation team and other IT team members.
- Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for technology-enabled process improvements and customer experience enhancements.
- Design the overall Enterprise architecture and roadmap.
- Drive the alignment of the projects to the desired Enterprise Architecture state through collaboration with the architects and project teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with senior leadership, including the CIO / CTO, IT Advisor, Head of Planning and Admin, and business unit heads, to ensure IT initiatives support strategic priorities.Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, providing insights on technology trends, risks, and opportunities.Governance and Risk Management
Establish and enforce IT governance frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.Feedback on strategic risks and management practices related to IT, including cybersecurity, data privacy, and disaster recovery.Budget and Resource Management
Develop and manage the IT strategy budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.Evaluate and prioritize IT investments based on ROI, risk, and strategic alignment.Team Leadership and Development
Build and lead a high-performing IT strategy and architecture team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Mentor and develop team members, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to support the organization’s strategic goals.Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.MBA or advanced degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in IT strategy, technology consulting, enterprise architecture or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Proven track record of developing and executing IT strategies in a financial services or highly regulated environment.Experience with digital transformation, cloud computing, data analytics, and emerging technologies.Seniority Level
