Legal Officer- Group Legal - Wholesale Banking
Principal responsibility is to provide legal support for legal matters falling under the Units :
- Provide effective legal support to the Unit
- Draft, review documentation for the Unit, where required.
- Business Performance & Management : Collaborate with the various legal teams and legal departments within CIMB Group, as well as facilitate collaboration across countries for sharing of best practices
- Liaise with external legal counsels and other stakeholders to ensure that all legal risks are identified and appropriately mitigated
- Ensure responsible and open communication with stakeholders on an ongoing basis, to enhance effectiveness of legal support to the Treasury & Markets businesses
- Any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management, from time to time.
Legal Developments / Regulatory Compliance :
Keeps abreast of relevant laws, regulations and market practices in order to provide advice and legal support to the Direct Superior, the Regional Head of Group Legal – Wholesale Banking and the Co-Heads of Group Legal to manage the legal risks of the GroupEnsure compliance with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements, CIMB policies and procedures and the Department’s policy and procedures.Job Specification
Bachelor’s Degree in Law or LL.BProfessional Qualification and / or Regulatory, Licensing requirementsAdmitted as a barrister, advocate or solicitor of at least one jurisdiction.2-5 years PQE.Prior experience in practice of law firm and / or as an inhouse counsel in a financial institution or corporation of equivalent or higher standingRequired Competencies and Skills
Technical / Functional skills : Reasonable working knowledge of laws relating to the UnitPersonal skills (Soft Skills / Soft Competencies) : Reasonable negotiation skills in providing effective legal advice, Understanding and the ability to comprehend the business requirements of personnel of the UnitAbility to identify and address legal issues affecting Units’ and their legal documentationAbility to work with various stakeholders to ensure understanding of, among others, credit and operational issues in order to address them in the relevant documentation.#J-18808-Ljbffr
