Job title : Finance Manager - Malaysia

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the Malaysian finance team (currently 2 accountants), fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and professional growth.
• Ensure appropriate delegation of tasks, while maintaining robust review and control processes.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages to the regional office in Bangkok and to group headquarters in Germany (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budget, and two reforecasts per year).
• Provide analysis of variances against budget / forecast, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Liaise closely with the Regional Finance Analyst to support regional and local management with timely, actionable financial insights.
• Partner with sales, events, editorial, and operations teams to ensure financial processes are followed efficiently (purchase orders, contract approvals, revenue recognition, billing, and expense control).
• Monitor the sales pipeline and expected revenue outturn, ensuring accurate forecasting and alignment with commercial targets.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and company secretary to ensure timely and accurate statutory reporting, audits, and compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Oversee all tax matters (corporate, GST / SST, withholding) and liaise with tax authorities.
• Ensure internal controls are robust, documented, and adhered to, in line with group standards.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
• Ensure prompt invoicing and follow-up on receivables to optimise working capital.
• Maintain banking relationships and oversee bank account operations and approvals.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial workflows and lead / participate in finance-related projects (e.g., CRM system, ERP enhancements).
• Support ad-hoc regional initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Regional Director of Finance.
