JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBLE TO : The Head, DHA, Head of Science Faculty
SCHOOL : King Henry VIII College, Cyberjaya
Qualifications
Honours degree in Science, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
Able to communicate fluently in Mandarin & English.
Experience of teaching to up to A levels, preferably with experience in an International School.
Experience of teaching Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) to IGCSE.
Computer literacy (familiar with Google Classroom and Sparks), excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
Passion for teaching and ability to add value to our team.
Excellent written and communication skills in English.
Experience with curriculum design and development.
Strong understanding of Science / Mathematics curriculum standard and best practice.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and administration to support student success.
Ability to manage a classroom and promote an engaging learning environment.
Experience of working with EAL learners would be an advantage.
Co-Curricular
The expectation is that all teachers, in consultation with appropriate colleagues, support a program of subject-related activities. These include relevant departmental clubs and trips. Teachers in the Senior School are expected to take at least two after-school activities each week. Teachers also look after a Form as a Form Tutor, monitoring and supporting students’ progress, and carrying out the tasks associated with this role.
General teaching Duties - these include, but are not limited to :

Having a close understanding of the UK National Curriculum.
Keeping abreast of developments in their subject and its teaching.
Understanding the applications of ICT in delivering their subject.

Meeting deadlines set by senior colleagues.
Setting consistently high expectations for students.
Ensuring lessons are thoroughly planned and prepared.
Creating a stimulating learning environment.
Demonstrating an ability to assess and evaluate effectively.
Understanding and applying relevant school policies.
Taking part in the School’s staff development program.
Contributing to any Departmental co-curricular activities.
Keeping up to date with child protection issues.
Undertaking any reasonable task as directed by the Head of Faculty.
Attending INSET training courses and taking responsibility for CPD.
Attending other meetings as required and acting on information and notices etc.
Contributing to the marketing and promotion of the school.
Working collaboratively to achieve the school’s aims and its development plan.
Reporting on students’ progress to parents in accordance with school policies.
Setting examinations / tests / coursework as required by the Head of Faculty.
Attending parents’ evenings and being available for further parental contact where necessary during the course of the year.
Carrying out any tasks that are reasonably requested by senior colleagues.
