Position Overview
The Resident Engineer will be stationed at the Kuala Lumpur project site and is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and supervision of construction works to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, and statutory regulations. With over 15 years of professional experience, the Resident Engineer plays a critical role in coordinating consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Supervision & Coordination
Oversee day‑to‑day site activities and ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with contract drawings, specifications, and statutory requirements.
Supervise and coordinate contractors, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure work progress meets project schedule and quality standards.
Attend site meetings and provide technical guidance to resolve engineering and construction‑related issues.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Monitor and inspect works to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Verify materials, workmanship, and methods used at the site against approved drawings and specifications.
Ensure compliance with local authority requirements, building by‑laws, and regulatory approvals.
Contract & Documentation Management
Review technical submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and material approvals.
Prepare site progress reports, defect lists, and inspection records for management review.
Support the Project Director in monitoring contractor claims, variations, and site instructions.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Enforce adherence to workplace health and safety regulations at all times.
Identify and mitigate site risks and hazards to ensure a safe working environment.
Coordinate with the Safety Manager to implement HSE policies and conduct safety briefings.
Stakeholder Communication
Liaise with consultants, local authorities, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
Provide technical advice to management and project stakeholders on construction‑related issues.
Act as the company’s representative at the project site.
Lead and mentor site engineers, supervisors, and technical staff to ensure professional growth and effective site management.
Encourage best practices in construction supervision and problem‑solving.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (Ir.) status with BEM registration preferred. BEM Practising Certificate (Annual Renewal).
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in construction and property development projects, including high‑rise, commercial, or mixed‑use developments.
Strong knowledge of civil, structural, M&E coordination, and construction methodologies.
Proven experience in site supervision, contract administration, and stakeholder management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently at project site (Kuala Lumpur) and manage multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines.
Possession of an active CIDB Personnel Registration (Yellow Card) is required for site entry.
Registration with DOSH (an added advantage if possessed).
Knowledge & Skills Required - Construction Industry laws & standards.
Working at Height Training (an added advantage if possessed).
Fire Safety & Emergency Response Training.
Safety induction & awareness.
