Overview
Head of AML / CFT Compliance at Touch ’n Go (TNG Digital) is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Targeted Financial Sanctions (TFS) and Counter-Proliferation Financing (CPF) regulations. This role ensures the effective implementation of compliance policies, governance frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization from financial crime risks. The incumbent will also manage law enforcement agency (LEA) orders, sanctions screening, and AML governance while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction for AML / CFT / TFS & CPF compliance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory expectations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing compliance team with the necessary skills and tools to manage financial crime risks effectively.
- Foster a strong compliance culture by embedding AML / CFT requirements into business operations, decision-making, and risk management strategies.
- Develop and implement an annual compliance program to ensure proactive risk mitigation.
- Provide oversight, advisory and guidance on handling regulatory inquiries, audit findings, and compliance reviews, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
- Establish, monitor and enhance AML / CFT policies, governance frameworks, and internal controls including Institution Risk Assessment (IRA) and Risk Profiling to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks related to AML / CFT, TFS, and CPF across the organization.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and review internal controls to ensure effective risk management; address any deficiencies and oversee remediation plans.
- Continuously monitor regulatory changes and emerging risks, ensuring timely communication, updates to relevant SOPs and implementation of necessary changes.
- Provide independent assurance to the Board and senior management on the effectiveness of the AML / CFT compliance program, highlighting risks, mitigation efforts, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and present periodic reports on AML / CFT compliance, risk exposure, audit findings, and regulatory developments to senior management, the Board, and relevant committees.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulators, financial intelligence units, and other authorities, ensuring proactive engagement and compliance with regulatory expectations.
- Oversee the governance framework for AML / CFT compliance, ensuring effective monitoring, review, and escalation mechanisms.
- Oversee sanctions screening processes, customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) to identify and mitigate financial crime risks.
- Supervise transaction monitoring systems, ensuring effective monitoring, timely detection, investigation, and reporting of suspicious transactions.
- Manage responses to requests from law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
- Work closely with risk, legal, finance, and operations teams to strengthen compliance controls and address emerging risks.
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide mandatory AML / CFT compliance training programs to ensure all employees understand their compliance obligations.
- Promote awareness through targeted initiatives, workshops, and communications, embedding a strong compliance mindset across the organization.
- Regularly review and enhance the AML / CFT compliance framework to align with regulatory changes, industry best practices, and evolving risks.
- Provide assurance to the Board and senior management on the effectiveness of the compliance program and identify areas for improvement.
Job Requirements
Minimum bachelor’s degree in law, banking, finance, or a related field.At least 9 years of experience in AML / CFT compliance, preferably in the financial services or fintech sector.In-depth understanding of AML / CFT legislation, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices.Proven experience in managing interactions with regulators and law enforcement agencies.Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams and regulatory bodies.Ability to assess complex compliance issues and provide pragmatic, risk-based solutions.Proactive in identifying and addressing compliance gaps before escalation.High commitment to ethical conduct and financial crime compliance.Willingness to challenge norms and escalate compliance risks when necessary.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging senior management and the Board.Strong negotiation skills to drive compliance initiatives and influence key stakeholders.Our Perks and Benefits
