Job Summary
The Hive Lead is a senior strategic leadership role responsible for defining, evolving, and executing the credit card platform vision across multiple applications and squads. This individual ensures the credit card platform acts as an accelerator for diverse product teams, balancing technical excellence with business outcomes. Collaborating with Domain Tech Leads, Engineering Leads, Architects, and leading a team of Product Owners, the Hive Lead guides a culture of agility, empowerment, and continuous innovation. This person champions long-term stability, user-focused design, and value-driven roadmaps—while embedding regulatory and risk considerations as natural aspects of the development process. The role also requires close adherence to the Enterprise Software Delivery Lifecycle (ESDLC), referencing relevant PO R&R documents and aligning with Clarity, Azure DevOps (ADO), and Confluence for planning and governance.
Key Responsibilities

Shape and Communicate Credit card platform Vision : Establish a multi-year strategic roadmap, blending market insights, business needs, and technical innovation to position the credit card platform for future success.
Align with Enterprise Objectives : Ensure credit card platform initiatives directly support major WRB outcomes and domain-level OKRs. Champion a data-driven approach to prioritisation, incorporating both functional milestones and non-functional imperatives (e.g., security, scalability, performance).
Set Balanced Strategic Priorities & KPIs : Drive adoption of measurable metrics (e.g., developer adoption, cost savings, time-to-market improvements) to improve the platform’s success. Proactively integrate technical debt reduction and compliance items into these priorities.
Promote Scalability & Sustainable Growth : Collaborate with Domain Tech Leads and Architects to embed performance, reliability, and risk controls at the architecture level; manage trade-offs between rapid feature deployment and long-term viability.
Vendor Management with Organizational Goals : Develop and implement a vendor management strategy that aligns with WRB objectives and strategic goals; incorporate risk management and resilience planning.
Business
Champion Stakeholder Needs : Advocate for Journeys / Credit cards and other Hive stakeholders, translating feedback into the unified backlog for the Hive; build transparent relationships with Journeys to reflect objectives in the platform’s evolution.
Unified Backlog Ownership : Maintain a single backlog that captures stream-aligned journey roadmaps, business-driven features, technical enablers, and compliance / risk work; balance urgent demands with strategic investments.
Value-Driven Delivery & Communication : Provide real-time visibility into backlog status, upcoming releases, and risk items through Clarity, ADO, and Confluence; host regular reviews to showcase platform increments and invite cross-domain feedback.
Foster Cross-Domain and Cross-Hive Synergy : Identify reusable platform capabilities to reduce duplication and accelerate outcomes; collaborate with domain owners to ensure a consistent user experience.
Processes
Adopt & Embed eSDLC Standards : Ensure lifecycles align with ESDLC and governance frameworks; reference the eSDLC PO R&R document where appropriate.
Champion Big Room Planning & Directional Scrums : Lead quarterly planning sessions and enable squads, chapters, and domain stakeholders to align on objectives; promote autonomy and continuous improvement.
DevOps & Continuous Process Optimisation : Drive DevOps practices (CI / CD, automated testing) for fast, reliable releases; collect feedback for iterative improvements.
Regulatory & Security Integration : Embed secure-by-design and privacy-by-design principles; maintain audit trails and compliance documentation to stay audit ready.
People & Talent
Lead & Empower Squads : Nurture a psychologically safe environment; provide clarity on how work contributes to long-term goals and promote autonomy and accountability.
Chapter Collaboration & Capability Building : Align skill development with platform needs; offer workshops on APIs, cloud, and security frameworks.
Mentor & Coach Product Owners : Provide frameworks and career guidance; encourage user-centric thinking and data-informed decisions.
Agile Mindset & Team Culture : Reward collaboration and transparency; cultivate communities of practice to share best practices.

Integrated Risk Oversight : Incorporate operational, security, and regulatory risk into the backlog; escalate major risks for swift mitigation.
Technical Debt & Legacy Transformation : Emphasise refactoring and architectural upgrades; avoid a feature factory mindset.
Cross-Domain Impediment Resolution : Clear blockers that affect multiple domains; coordinate with leads to address performance or architectural issues.
Regulatory Adherence & Audit Readiness : Keep platform audit-ready with clear mapping of backlog items to compliance requirements; stay ahead of evolving regulations.
Vendor Risk Management : Ensure vendors comply with regulatory and internal policies; identify risks and ensure cybersecurity standards.
Governance
Enterprise Governance Alignment : Satisfy corporate policies without adding bureaucratic burden; ensure artefacts meet governance needs with minimal friction.
Steering Committee & Forum Representation : Represent the platform in governance bodies and link metrics to strategic outcomes; use data to inform decisions.
