General Description

Provide basic nursing care in accordance with established standards, work collaboratively with team members, and report any incidents or issues to relevant authorities to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Job Description

• Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
• Notify the nursing leaders of any situation that impacts on the quality of care.
• Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
• Perform daily routine : conduct regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families; prepare and tidy patients’ beds and linens as needed and organize patients’ belongings as well as furniture; disinfect beds, furniture, and equipment after use; maintain the ward, store, fridge and its facilities clean and tidy; assist the patient with filling the hot water flask if needed; answer phone calls and relay messages; attend to patients’ calls promptly; assist nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre; escort patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the ward to other areas upon discharge; dispatch specimens to the laboratory and collect results; collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations; send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
• Assist the trained staff in various aspects of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.; clean and disinfect the trolley and instruments after use and store them properly; record daily charges for items used in the ward and update the patients’ charges accordingly; serve meals, prepare drinks for patients if needed, and collect trays; maintain the record of intake and output chart for each patient; lift, turn, and position patients safely and comfortably using correct body mechanics; accompany the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses.
• Attend meetings held by the service.
