Job description

Role : Service Manager – digital printing division

Salary Budget : MYR10,000 gross monthly × 12 months (negotiable up to MYR11,500 for strong candidates)

Allowances :

Travel : MYR400 monthly

Phone Claim : MYR120 monthly

Petrol Card : MYR600 monthly

Total "on-paper" monthly cash before bonuses etc = MYR11,120

Location : Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia (On-site, full-time)

Company Background : An established international industrial solutions provider specializing in machinery, equipment, and technical services, with a focus on supporting customers in the printing and related industries.

Experience : 5 – 10 years (in machinery / equipment service; printing industry knowledge an added advantage)

Employment Type : Permanent, full-time

Required : ASAP, or within 1–2 months

Summary of Job

The Service Manager leads and manages the Technical Service (TS) department of the digital printing Division. This role ensures comprehensive and professional technical project execution while combining strong leadership, organizational, and customer-facing skills. The Service Manager will act as the bridge between customers, service engineers, and the division manager to deliver best-in-class service quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide functional leadership for all employees of the Technical Service (TS) department – digital printing Division.
  • Guide, motivate, and develop employees to achieve set targets and minimize employee turnover.
  • Define and support quarterly and annual targets and KPIs for Service Engineers.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with the Division Manager.

2. Service Operations

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution concerning operations and services.
  • Stay updated on relevant knowledge, trends, and best practices.
  • Conduct analyses on target customers and keep the Division Manager and sales teams informed about trends, customer needs, interests, and problems.
  • 3. Customer Relationship Management

  • Manage strong customer-facing responsibilities (70% of the role).
  • Visit potential and existing customers to develop and grow long-term relationships.
  • Promote strong relationships with subject matter experts, key customers, and decision-makers.
  • Build and maintain sustainable customer relationships by emphasizing the company's comprehensive industrial solution.
  • Requirements

  • Solid experience as a Service Manager for machinery and equipment; knowledge in the printing industry is an advantage.
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to manage both customers and the Division Manager.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Self-reliant, independent work style with a high sense of responsibility.
  • Proven capability of excelling under pressure.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications for producing weekly and monthly reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English, Malay, and Chinese.
  • Strong team spirit and disciplined work ethic.
  • Readiness to travel (approx. 30% domestic, 10% regional).
  • Other Remarks

  • Candidates with higher maturity / age (above 50) can be considered if healthy and fit.
  • Technical know-how is good to have but not essential — priority is strong people management and customer handling.
  • Bonus based on company performance.
  • Career progression possible into Division Head role or laterally into other service roles.
  • Internal Reference Notes (for sourcing & screening)
  • Team Size Reporting : 1 Assistant Manager Technical Service + 7 senior service engineers + 2 junior engineers.

    Role Breakdown : 70% customer-facing, 20% team management, 10% coordination with HP manufacturer.

    Reporting Line : Directly to Division Manager (based in Malaysia).

    Customer Base : Predominantly "China man" business owners running 24-hour production lines — need candidate with strong EQ, patience, and customer management skills.

    Candidate Background :

    Must have service management experience for machinery / equipment used in manufacturing lines (not tractors / heavy equipment unrelated to production).

    Printing industry background (such as Konica Minolta, Canon, Heidelberg, etc.) is preferred but not mandatory.

    Priority Profile :

    Strong people manager (EQ, customer handling, manage Division Manager effectively).

    Industry background : Printing / manufacturing equipment.

    Technical service know-how (good to have, not required).

    Languages : Must speak English, Malay, and Chinese (due to customer base).

    Salary Budget : Target MYR10k base + allowances. Flexibility up to MYR11.5k for strong candidates, subject to management approval.

    Bonuses : Company performance-based.

    Travel : 30% domestic, 10% regional.

    Job Types : Full-time, Permanent

    Pay : RM9, RM11,500.00 per month
