Overview
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provides strategic and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered medical care within the hospital. This role oversees all medical departments, ensuring operational excellence, compliance with clinical governance, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Clinical & Operational Leadership : Lead and manage all medical services to ensure effective daily operations and clinical excellence.
- Clinical & Operational Leadership : Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Clinical & Operational Leadership : Drive clinical performance improvement and ensure medical staff compliance with best practices and hospital policies.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance : Oversee clinical risk management, patient safety, and medical audit functions.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance : Ensure the hospital maintains accreditation standards (MSQH, JCI, ISO, etc.).
- Quality, Safety & Compliance : Lead mortality and morbidity reviews and implement evidence-based improvements.
- People & Performance Management : Supervise Heads of Departments (HODs) and consultants to achieve departmental goals.
- People & Performance Management : Lead medical credentialing, appraisal, and professional development programs.
- People & Performance Management : Foster collaboration between medical, nursing, and allied health teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Act as a liaison between management and the medical fraternity.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Represent the hospital in professional and regulatory forums.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate closely with operations and nursing leaders to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
Requirements
MBBS / MD or equivalent medical qualification with valid MMC registration.Minimum 15 years of clinical experience with at least 5 years in hospital leadership or management.Strong understanding of hospital operations, healthcare regulations, and clinical governance.Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict management skills.Experience in a private hospital environment.Proven success in improving clinical outcomes, patient safety, and service delivery.Strong team leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration mindset.Seniority level
