Staff Nurse Cath Lab

Overview

Position Summary : Assist Cardiologist in diagnostic catheterization and vascular and interventional cardiac procedures and provide patient care during and after the procedure. Responsible for the operation of specialized equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

General

• Provide professional care in cardiac catheterization laboratory within the established standard and practice.
• Assist Cardiologist (attending doctor) during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Educate the patient and / or family about the procedure.
• Practice aseptic technique throughout procedure.
• Wear appropriate PPE and lead gown and / or shield for radiation protection during procedure.
• Ensure patient safety by taking preventive measures against accidents / incidents.
• Provide privacy and safeguard confidentiality of the patient.
• Monitor stock for consumables and drugs according to par level.
• Perform daily checking of controlled drugs, crash cart and medical gases.
• Assist in the orientation of new staff.
• Participate in the training and development of nurses in Cardiac Catheterization laboratory.
• Maintain clinical competency in all aspects of cardiac catheterization and provide direct patient care as needed.
• Be "on-call" after office hours for emergencies.
• Perform any other duties as assigned and / or requested in a competent and professional manner.
