Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical engineering duties including inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of smelter equipment (e.g., conveyors, pumps, compressors, cranes, furnaces).
• Lead and manage mechanical maintenance projects to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers and maintenance staff.
• Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, ensuring compliance with operational schedules.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production targets and facility upgrades.
• Oversee and coordinate contractor work and other service providers, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion.
• Plan, monitor, and execute maintenance activities during routine shutdowns.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on cost reduction, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Maintain accurate documentation such as mechanical schematics, maintenance logs, and risk assessments.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Budget and Resource Management - Assist the Maintenance Manager in preparing budgets for mechanical maintenance activities and shutdowns.
• Spare Parts and Inventory Management - Review and manage inventory levels for critical spare parts to ensure availability during emergencies and shutdowns.
• Compliance and Audits - Support audits and inspections related to mechanical systems to meet industry and regulatory standards.
• Training and Knowledge Sharing - Organize and deliver training sessions for the maintenance team on mechanical systems and best practices.
• Emergency Response Coordination - Develop plans and lead mechanical repair operations during equipment emergencies or unscheduled shutdowns.
