Senior Naval Architect

Job Overview :

The Senior Naval Architect uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Naval Architecture (Eng) discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Naval Architecture (Eng) discipline. The Senior Naval Architect solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Naval Architect impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Naval Architecture (Eng) team and other related teams and ensures they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, (Master’s Degree is preferred).
• Eight-fifteen (8-15) years of experience in Oil and Gas with a major contractor or consultant predominantly performing construction and installation design.
• Strong working knowledge in design techniques, analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards codes and guidelines as applicable for offshore construction.
• Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society.
• Additional skills (preferred, not mandatory) – Awareness of marine procedures such as :

Loadouts - skidded and trailered.

Liaise with : All Engineering disciplines, Fabrication Group, Marine Group, Hookup Group, Safety Dept, Document Control,

Procurement Group, Subcontractors, Project Management Team, Vendors, and Customers

Supervises : Naval Architects
