About the Role
Data is at the core of everything we do at January Capital. Since inception, we have leveraged proprietary datasets and technology tools to engage the region’s most promising founding teams at the earliest stage. As our ambitions continue to grow, we are expanding our capabilities in data-driven and product-led innovation.
As a Data Analyst based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play a key role in supporting our ongoing data and analytics efforts. You’ll work closely with the investment, product, and engineering teams to help translate raw data into actionable insights and contribute to the design and execution of our data product roadmap. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-moving, high-impact VC firm and directly contribute to our technology strategy in the private markets ecosystem. The ideal candidate for this role has some technical capacity, is comfortable with large & obscure data sets and has a passion to utilise various ML techniques to unearth the most critical insights to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with a range of internal stakeholders (investment, product, engineering) to identify and analyze relevant data to support investment decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Continue to refine our data efforts to ensure that we are unearthing relevant data points across both individual markets, as well as regional, leveraging business intelligence & AI / ML techniques.
- Assist in cleaning, transforming, and managing diverse datasets, including proprietary, portfolio, and market data.
- Contribute to the sourcing and development of data models and analytics pipelines in collaboration with engineering.
- Ensure data integrity and implement best practices for data quality and governance.
- Monitor KPIs and provide analysis on firm performance. e
- Proactively identify opportunities to automate processes or improve analytics using advanced tools and methods.
Requirements
2-4 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or related roles, preferably in a technology, venture capital, or fast-growing product-focused environment.Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar.Strong skills in SQL and experience with at least one BI platform (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar).Proficiency with Python, R, or another analytics-focused language for data wrangling and analysis.Familiarity with cloud databases, data warehousing concepts, and ETL pipelines.Exposure to AI / ML-powered analytics and building data products is an advantage.Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to effectively present insights to non-technical stakeholders.Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.Based in Kuala Lumpur or willing to relocate; eligible to work in Malaysia.What We Offer
