Category Sourcing Manager - Packaging Materials (South-East & South-Asia)
As the Category Sourcing Manager, Packaging Materials for South-East and South-Asia (SESA) , the role encompasses the following responsibilities :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive regional sourcing strategy for the Packaging category
- Lead and manage strategic supplier relationships at both regional and global levels
- Strategically influence internal stakeholders and business teams across global and regional operations
- Demonstrate strong leadership to both the category team and external suppliers
- Lead and deliver regional and global projects specific to the category
- Drive strategic cost management initiatives, including e-tendering, negotiations, and contract management
- Ensure continuous year-on-year value creation aligned with company and functional objectives
- Collaborate with the Category Technical Lead to develop a technical roadmap, identifying and executing critical projects and initiatives
- Build and maintain a robust vendor base, including both current and prospective suppliers
- Actively contribute to AkzoNobel’s Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi)
- Partner with the Business Unit Technical Lead to develop alternative raw materials, reducing single / sole source material risks
- Foster a culture of global collaboration and cooperation across teams and functions
To be considered for this opportunity, you should have :
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business, Economics, or equivalent; a Master’s in Business or Supply Chain is a plusBrings 10–15 years of experience in related industries, mainly in strategic sourcing roles with regional or global scopeSolid experience in sourcing relevant Packaging Materials in the regionComfortable working in complex environments with significant spend and cross-border responsibilitiesStrong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levelsProven ability to lead strategic sourcing projects and drive change across functions or regionsSkilled in stakeholder management and influencing, especially across business units and culturesAble to work independently with broad direction, showing initiative and accountabilitySolid background in category management, negotiation, and contract managementProficient in tools like SAP and Business Intelligence platforms for data-driven decision makingAnalytical, adaptable, and resilient — able to manage stress and adjust in a fast-paced environmentAbout AkzoNobel
