University Guidance Counsellor

Overview

Epsom College in Malaysia seeks to appoint a Careers and University Guidance Counsellor to join us in January 2026.

Key Purpose of the Role : Provide personalised career guidance and university counselling to support students in identifying and achieving their future goals; equip students with the knowledge, skills, and resources to explore diverse career pathways and higher education opportunities globally; facilitate development of life skills and prepare students for success beyond school; guide students through the university application process; foster partnerships with universities, industries, and organisations; organise events to expand exposure to career and education options; maintain resources on career exploration, scholarships, and financial aid; collaborate with school staff to support students with diverse needs; track progress and report on outcomes; stay updated on trends in education, employment, and global university systems.

Responsibilities

• Career Planning and Guidance : assist students in identifying strengths and interests, provide tailored advice on career opportunities, develop individualised career plans, and deliver workshops on job application techniques, CV writing, and interview skills.
• University Applications and Higher Education Pathways : guide students in researching and selecting universities, support applications and personal statements, provide advice on global university systems and requirements, and assist with standardised test preparation.
• Skills Development and Workshops : conduct sessions on soft skills (teamwork, communication, time management) and facilitate workshops on leadership, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
• Networking and Partnerships : build relationships with universities and industry professionals, coordinate university visits and career fairs, and develop partnerships for internships and mentorships.
• Resource Development and Delivery : maintain resources on careers, higher education, scholarships, and financial aid; introduce students to digital tools for career exploration and applications.
• Individualised Support : provide one-on-one guidance for career planning and university applications; develop pathways for students with diverse needs, including those with EAL or SEND.
• Monitoring and Reporting : track progress, provide regular updates to school leadership, monitor outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness and identify improvements.
• Community and Industry Engagement : organise events connecting students with alumni, employers, and university representatives; foster local and global community engagement for enrichment opportunities.
• Training and Professional Development : stay updated on trends in higher education and employment markets; provide staff training on supporting career and university planning.
