Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on excavators and other heavy machinery, following manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems of excavators, ensuring timely resolution of issues to minimize downtime.
- Preventive Maintenance : Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all excavators to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
- Inspect machines regularly for wear, defects, or potential issues, reporting any findings to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Technical Support : Provide on-site technical support for customers and field service teams, addressing mechanical breakdowns and equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with other team members to provide technical insights and recommendations for equipment upgrades and modifications.
- Parts and Inventory Management : Identify and order the necessary parts for repair or replacement, ensuring the availability of essential components.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and parts usage, and update the maintenance log accordingly.
- Safety and Compliance : Ensure all maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety procedures when handling equipment and tools.
- Customer Support : Assist customers with the proper operation, care, and maintenance of excavators.
- Address customer inquiries or complaints regarding equipment performance and collaborate with the service team to provide solutions.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Background : Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Machinery, or related fields. Professional certification in heavy equipment repair is a plus.Experience : Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic for heavy machinery, with a focus on excavators or similar construction equipment. Hands-on experience in hydraulic systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and electrical repairs is required.Skills : Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues efficiently. Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair manuals. Familiarity with heavy machinery brands and equipment, especially in the construction or earth-moving sectors. Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.Working Conditions
This position requires work both in the workshop and on-site at various construction or mining locations. The mechanic may need to travel to customer sites to perform repairs and services, and occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
