The Role

Ricardo Plc’s Automotive and Industrial business unit is a trusted partner for clean and efficient integrated propulsion and energy systems. An entrepreneurial and accountable business mindset, a vision and intent for short / medium / long‑term growth are required. You will lead and manage the business development and sales team within APAC, define, implement and drive a growth strategy and ultimately achieve the volume of pipeline required to sustain Order Intake revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Owner of regional order intake and accountable for delivering the volume of orders required by the business.
  • Orchestrate the Ricardo selling team in the region, coordinating Marketing, Growth Solutions and SMEs.
  • Collaborate with the SVP of Business Development & Sales, Growth Solution Leaders and Marketing to develop and execute strategic sales plans.
  • Lead, motivate, mentor and grow the regional business development & sales team to maximise performance and achieve personal quota.
  • Set and monitor KPIs, forecast OI, manage lead qualification and pursuit process to improve close rates and drive order intake.
  • Act as the “voice of the customer” to identify gaps between the regional market requirements and corporate capabilities and communicate those to Growth Solutions.
  • Define, quantify and sell value associated with Ricardo offerings to differentiate from competitors and drive pipeline growth.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows and seminars to promote Ricardo and establish credibility.
  • Support marketing with value selling and competitive differentiation, competitor intelligence, market intelligence and promotional material creation.
  • Ensure CRM tool is updated, reflecting pipeline and supporting the wider business.
  • Very mobile and willing to travel as needed to support regional ambitions and growth plans.
  • Accountable for compliance with company standards, audit requirements, policy and procedures for self and the team.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in business development in similar industries, delivering strategy and value selling, and achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong business and commercial skills with understanding of financial drivers and shareholder value; solid knowledge of industry‑standard legal and business language.
  • Established network in relevant sectors.
  • Lead and work well with people, in a team environment, and communicate effectively both written and verbal.
  • Essential

  • Very strong sense of ownership and accountability in achieving sector’s pipeline and OI targets, with an entrepreneurial mindset to grow the region as a business.
  • Professional approach; exudes expertise and credibility.
  • Sound strategic thinker; visionary and opportunistic, with nimbleness and an initiative to improve.
  • Strong negotiation skills; track record of building high‑performing teams and influencing others.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi‑task effectively.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; ability to condense complex issues into succinct messages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, matrix organisation.
  • Preferred

  • Master’s degree in engineering or business.
  • Previous experience of sales management.
  • Previous experience of leading and inspiring sales professionals to drive results.
