Overview
As Plant Operation Manager, you will be the strategic and operational leader of the manufacturing facility, responsible for delivering production efficiency, quality, safety, and cost targets. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this is a high-impact leadership role that requires strong technical expertise, people management capabilities, and continuous improvement focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day production planning, scheduling and execution to meet volume, cost, and quality objectives.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices (Kaizen, Six Sigma) to improve yield and reduce downtime.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, equipment upgrades, and capital project installations.
- Guide and mentor the Assistant Production Manager and build internal succession readiness.
B. Quality & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with ISO, GMP and internal quality management systems.Work closely with QA to address deviations, support audits, and maintain regulatory compliance.Promote a culture of “right-first-time” through robust SOPs, training, and quality KPIs.C. Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination
Manage warehouse and logistics operations to ensure material flow and on-time delivery.Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement teams for effective production planning.Apply best practices in inventory management (FIFO / FEFO, cycle counts) to minimize waste and holding costs.Lead safety initiatives and enforce a zero-incident safety culture.Conduct risk assessments, safety drills, and toolbox talks regularly.Work with HSE team to close audit gaps and continuously improve EHS systems.E. Budgeting & Cost Control
Develop, manage, and monitor plant operational budgets (labour, materials, utilities, consumables).Identify and drive cost-saving initiatives across the plant.Track cost variance and optimize resource utilization.Serve as the main operational liaison to the COO, submitting weekly reports and risk alerts.Drive Monthly Operations Review Meetings and share key plant performance metrics.Partner with HR on recruitment, onboarding, performance management and team development.Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial) or related discipline.Minimum 8–10 years of experience in a manufacturing plant leadership or senior operations role.Background in chemical, agrochemical, FMCG, packaging, or related manufacturing preferred.Strong experience in lean manufacturing, ISO / GMP, and managing project commissioning.Demonstrated success in leading teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Core Competencies
