Key Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Planning : Develop and implement HR strategies that align with business goals and expansion plans. Establish and manage KPI and OKR systems for the HR department and overall workforce, driving performance and accountability.
- HR Operations & Compliance : Manage end-to-end HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration. Ensure strict compliance with Malaysian labour laws, Australia's Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards (NES), and internal company policies. Oversee HR compliance for cross-border operations, regularly update policies, and enforce best practices aligned with local and international employment standards.
- Cross-Border & Remote HR Management : Coordinate HR efforts for our teams across different locations (local and overseas). Support and engage remote employees, and handle HR matters across different regions (e.g., work policies for any overseas branches or cross-border projects). This includes understanding and bridging cultural differences, and occasionally traveling for key in-person meetings or trainings.
- Performance Management & Development : Implement and maintain a robust performance management system using KPIs / OKRs. Design and conduct staff appraisal exercises on a regular basis (e.g., annually or bi‑annually). Provide guidance and recommendations on increments, promotions, or disciplinary actions arising from appraisal outcomes. Identify training and development needs, and propose initiatives to enhance employee performance and productivity. Recommend promotions, increments, or improvement plans based on performance data.
- Salary & Bonus Structuring : Design and maintain fair and competitive salary structures aligned with industry benchmarks and company budget. Propose and manage performance-based bonus schemes with management and finance.
- Performance Management & KPI Setting : Establish clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each department and position, in consultation with management. Monitor and track KPI achievement, providing regular reports and recommendations to the management team. Ensure KPI frameworks are measurable, realistic, and aligned with the Company’s business objectives.
- Recruitment & Staffing : Manage end-to-end recruitment processes for both online and offline staff, ensuring that hiring needs of the Company are met in a timely and cost‑effective manner. Source, screen, and interview candidates through various platforms. Oversee recruitment of :
Online staff based primarily in Malaysia, including but not limited to customer service, sales and marketer, online coordinators, and administrative roles.
Offline staff based in Australia, including but not limited to cleaners, handymen, warehouse operators, regional coordinators and runners supporting the Company’s short-term rental operations.Draft, review, and issue employment contracts for all new hires, ensuring compliance with Malaysian labour law for Malaysia-based staff and Australian labour law for Australia-based staff. Maintain proper documentation of recruitment activities, contracts, and onboarding processes.
Employee Relations & Engagement : Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture. Act as a trusted point of contact for employee concerns or grievances, and resolve conflicts in line with company values and legal requirements. Lead initiatives to boost employee engagement, wellness, and morale – from team‑building activities to feedback surveys – ensuring our staff remain motivated and supported.Reporting & HR Analytics : Maintain accurate HR records and prepare regular HR reports for top management (e.g. headcount, turnover rates, hiring metrics, HR costs). Use data‑driven insights to recommend improvements – for example, analyzing HR KPIs to advise leadership on workforce planning, productivity, or retention strategies.Qualifications & Requirements
Education : Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. (HR certification such as SHRM-CP / CI or MIHRM is a plus.)Experience : Minimum 5 years of HR management experience, with at least some experience in the hospitality / hotel industry preferred. Proven track record in strategic HR planning, policy implementation, and leading HR projects.Language : Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese is required. Must be fluent in spoken and written English and Chinese to communicate with local and international stakeholders.HR Knowledge : Strong knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act, familiar with Australian HR practices and labour regulations. Experience managing compliance and HR practices across borders or in a multicultural environment will be an advantage. Familiarity with setting up and monitoring HR KPIs / OKRs and using HRIS (Human Resource Information System) or related tools for data management.Skills : Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail – able to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels. Leadership qualities to mentor the HR team and drive change management. Problem‑solving mindset and ability to navigate sensitive HR issues with integrity and confidentiality.Technology & Digital HR : Demonstrates strong proficiency in modern HRIS platforms and digital HR tools, with hands‑on experience in applying AI technologies across HR functions such as recruitment and data analytics. Well‑versed in using collaborative work platforms like Notion, Lark, and Slack to support communication and workflow. Effectively leverages digital solutions to manage, engage, and support remote teams in a dynamic and scalable environment.Proficiency : Proficiency in specific HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or BambooHR) required.Work Style : Self‑motivated and proactive, capable of working independently in a hybrid / remote setting. Comfortable coordinating virtual teams and conducting meetings online, while also available to attend in‑person management meetings or trainings as needed.What We Offer
