HR Associate 1 (Mandarin Speaker)

General Overview

This is an entry-level HR Associate role for a Mandarin speaker in Penang, Malaysia. You may gain hands-on experience managing employee data and payroll, with solid training and support.

Summary

Entry level position where the employee receives both functional and organizational training under close supervision. Incumbents perform assignments within well-defined practices, procedures and policies. Works independently on details of assignments with limited decision-making authority; most decisions are guided by the immediate supervisor. Decisions / actions may impact the department's / division's goals. Requires close supervision and direction on how assignments are executed; begins to contribute ideas on how work is completed. Establishes cooperative relationships to work effectively with colleagues; supports others and participates as a team member, taking responsibility for own work commitments. Interacts with the immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; routine information exchanges occur; external interactions, if applicable, would be monitored.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following :

• Manage employees' time and attendance related data entries (e.g., shift changes, OT requests)
• Generate daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc time attendance reports
• Support termination payroll and month-end payroll processes
• Support employees queries and resolve cases raised in ServiceNow
• Perform system testing for system configuration changes, upgrades or legal changes
• Handle China payroll
• Knowledge of payroll is an added advantage
• Knowledge of legislation impacting human resources management
• Knowledge of company HR policies and practices, labor movements, arbitration proceedings
• Knowledge of local HRIS system and report writing
• Good public presentation skills
• Ability to conduct thorough, timely, and unbiased internal investigations with practical recommendations
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal customers
• Ability to evaluate multiple detailed tasks, determine priorities and organize work for timely completion
• Ability to manage sensitive employee information confidentially
• Proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Proficiency in spoken, read and written Mandarin is required, as the role supports payroll operations in China
