Overview
The Pharmacy Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and safeguarding Cigna’s digital infrastructure and pharmacy database to ensure data is accurate, secure, and readily accessible to support timely claims handling and efficient customer service.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all medication data (names, strengths, dosages, interactions) in relevant database(s) is accurate, up-to-date, and standardized.
- Monitor and validate newly created records by team members and resolve discrepancies in database records.
- Support digital transformation initiatives related to pharmacy claims operations and Cigna’s data systems.
- Assist the Claims SMEs, Quality Review and Audit agents, and IOH Member Claims Management team in improving overall quality results.
- Help reveal patterns of operational errors through data‑mining exercises.
- Summarize findings in a report to be directed to the Head of the IOH Member Claims team.
- Follow up with stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met and any delays are communicated proactively.
- Manage workload proactively, communicating with your manager any risks or challenges to targeted completion dates.
- Take initiative and show confidence in correspondence with internal and external parties, where applicable.
Qualifications
Relevant degree in Pharmacy or related field.Minimum 2 years’ experience in database administration, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.Experience with pharmacy management systems and healthcare databases is highly desirable.Knowledge of data integration tools and reporting software (e.g., Power BI) would be an added advantage.Strong attention to detail.Demonstrated strong organization skills.Ability to quickly learn new and complex tasks and concepts.Data analysis and reporting skills preferred.Inquisitive nature capable of thinking critically and challenging assumptions.Demonstrated follow‑through on complex problems and tasks.Comfortable working independently and with a team.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Patience and creativity among strong points.Competencies
