Responsibilities
Develop and implement a groupwide strategic purchasing function for technical parts in the machine-building industry, providing direct leadership to the Asia team and functional oversight of the global purchasing network.
Establish the purchasing organization and processes in Asia to ensure competitive pricing, high quality, and reliable sourcing of technical parts for the our group worldwide.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost efficiency, and delivery performance.
Lead negotiations and contract management with suppliers to secure competitive terms and establish long-term partnerships.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity and sustainability of supply.
Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to align supplier capabilities with business needs.
Assess fabrication feasibility and recommend suppliers capable of meeting stringent technical and quality standards.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to select materials and components that meet design and performance criteria.
Oversee procurement documentation, including RFQs, purchase orders, and supplier agreements.
Monitor and manage supplier performance, resolving issues related to quality, delivery, and pricing.
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and inspection of purchased items across Asia and the global production network.
Manage inventory levels, reorder points, and audits to ensure accuracy, minimize stockouts, and reduce excess.
Drive cost-saving initiatives, process improvements, and supply chain optimization.
Implement best practices and SOPs to enhance efficiency and standardize procurement processes globally.
Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies relevant to strategic sourcing.
Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
4 - 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within the machine-building or technical manufacturing industry.
Proven track record in establishing and leading strategic purchasing functions across multiple regions.
Strong knowledge of technical parts, mechanical drawings, and manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and manage suppliers to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
Excellent negotiation and contract management skills with experience securing long-term supplier agreements.
Solid understanding of international supply chain operations, logistics, and inventory management.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional and multicultural teams, ideally in an Asia / global context.
Analytical mindset with the ability to assess supplier capabilities, costs, and risks.
Hands‑on experience in implementing best practices, SOPs, and process improvements within procurement.
Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools; SAP experience is a plus.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and senior management.
Fluent in English; additional Asian or European languages are advantageous.
Willingness to travel regionally and internationally as required.
