Role
Early Intervention Therapist with multidisciplinary support including Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and family-centered services within an early intervention setting.
Responsibilities
- Early Intervention Program Delivery
- Design and implement individualized early intervention plans tailored to developmental delays and neurodiverse needs.
- Conduct developmental assessments to identify specific areas of delay or difficulty.
- Collaborate with families to create IFSPs (Individualized Family Service Plans) and monitor progress.
- Speech Therapy (Informal / Functional Integration)
- Conduct informal speech and language screenings.
- Provide language-rich environments that foster expressive and receptive communication.
- Support articulation, vocabulary development, and alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, AAC).
- Collaborate with licensed SLPs for assessments or therapy as needed.
- Occupational Therapy (School-Based Application)
- Integrate sensory-motor activities to support regulation, attention, and functional skills.
- Help children develop fine motor skills (e.g., pre-writing, grasping, hand-eye coordination).
- Implement strategies for sensory processing challenges using a sensory-friendly classroom setup.
- Support children with self-care tasks (e.g., feeding, dressing, toileting).
- Behavior and Social-Emotional Support
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to support children with behavioral challenges or emotional regulation difficulties.
- Teach and model social interaction, peer engagement, and play skills.
- Apply proactive behavior management techniques (e.g., visual schedules, positive reinforcement).
- Family Engagement & Team Collaboration
- Partner with parents / caregivers to support carryover of strategies at home.
- Conduct parent training and regular progress updates.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (SLPs, OTs, psychologists, special educators) to ensure a cohesive approach.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.Minimum 2 years of experience working with children with developmental delays or neurodiverse needs (autism, ADHD, speech delays).Knowledge of early intervention practices and developmental milestones.Strong understanding of child development and early intervention techniques.Empathy, patience, and excellent observation skills.Ability to create engaging, therapeutic, and structured activities.Effective communication with children, families, and professionals.Adaptability and creativity in a dynamic learning environment.Benefits
