As a Account Assistant, you will support the finance team by performing day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks. This role is ideal for someone beginning their accounting career and will provide good exposure to accounts payable & receivable, bank reconciliations, data entry, and basic financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Assist in recording daily financial transactions such as invoices, receipts, payments and journal entries.
- Handle accounts payable : process supplier invoices, prepare payment vouchers, reconcile supplier statements.
- Handle accounts receivable : issue invoices to customers, monitor outstanding payments, send statements and follow up on receivables.
- Perform bank reconciliations, petty cash reconciliations and assist in cash flow tracking.
- Assist with monthly closing tasks and support preparation of basic management accounts or summary reports.
- Maintain fixed assets register, update spreadsheets and accounting software as needed.
- Assist in stock count and inventory reconciliation : participate in periodic physical stock counts, compare actual quantities with system records, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate recording of inventory movement.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance team : document filing, data entry, scanning, assisting audits as required.
- Ad-hoc tasks as assigned by senior finance staff or management.
- Basic accounting knowledge (e.g., invoices, journal entries, reconciliation) and willingness to learn more advanced accounting support functions. Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with spreadsheets; experience or willingness to learn accounting software / system.
- Good numerical skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and time-management abilities; able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated integrity and confidentiality when handling financial data.
