Optical Test Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Optical Test Engineer to join us. You will be responsible for designing, setting up, executing, and optimizing optical test solutions to verify and ensure the performance, reliability, and consistency of our optical products (such as lenses, lasers, sensors, displays, optical modules, etc.). You must possess a deep understanding of optical principles, proficiency in operating various precision optical instruments, and strong data analysis and problem-solving skills to safeguard product design improvements and mass-production quality.
Key Responsibilities
Test Solution Design & Development :
- Design, develop, and validate innovative optical test plans, test procedures (SOPs), and test fixtures based on product optical specifications and industry standards.
- Evaluate and select appropriate test equipment, instruments and test methodologies.
Test Execution & Data Analysis :
Set up, calibrate, and maintain precision optical test setups and environments.Perform optical performance tests, including but not limited to : spectral characteristics (wavelength, bandwidth, intensity), transmittance / reflectance, imaging quality (MTF, distortion, chromatic aberration), light intensity distribution, polarization characteristics, color coordinates, luminance uniformity.Accurately collect, process, and analyse large volumes of test data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential issues.Prepare clear, professional test reports summarizing testProblem Diagnosis & Resolution :
Conduct root cause analysis for test failures or performance deviations, collaborating closely with design, process, and quality teams for problem identification and resolution.Participate in failure analysis (FA), providing insights from an optical perspective.Propose improvements for product design, manufacturing processes, or test methodologies.Test System Maintenance & Improvement :
Perform routine maintenance, calibration management, and troubleshooting of optical test equipment.Continuously optimize the efficiency, accuracy, stability, and automation level of existing test systems.Explore and introduce new testing technologies and equipment to enhance test capabilities.Cross-functional Collaboration :
Collaborate closely with Optical Design Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, and production teams to ensure test requirements are fully understood and results effectively fed back into design and production.Support optical test validation during New Product Introduction (NPI) phases.Provide test-related training and guidance to production personnel.Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, Physics, Precision Instrumentation, Measurement & Control Technology and Instruments, or a related field.Experience :
2 years of experience in optical testing, optical metrology, or a related field.Familiarity with optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V) for simple simulations to aid testing.Good at optical image quality analysis software (e.g., Imatest) for image quality analysis.Have solid experience in FF / AF camera module development and image testing.Experience with mass production testing, familiar with GR&R, CPK, and other statistical analysis methodsKnowledge & Skills :
Solid Theoretical Optics Foundation : Proficient in fundamental principles of geometric optics, physical optics (wave optics), photometry, and colorimetryExpertise with Optical Test Instruments : Proficient in operating, calibrating, and applying key instruments (e.g., Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSA), Optical Power Meters, Integrating Spheres, Imaging Test Stations, Interferometers, Autocollimators, Polarization Analyzers, Beam Profilers / M² Measurement Systems).Test System Setup Capability : Demonstrated ability to independently set up, debug, and maintain complex optical test benches.Data Analysis Skills : Proficient in data processing and analysis tools (e.g., advanced Excel, Python, MATLAB) to extract actionable insights and draw conclusions.Knowledge of Standards : Familiarity with relevant international / domestic / industry optical test standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, GB, specific industry standards).Hands-on Skills : Excellent practical skills and ability to solve real-world engineering problems.Soft Skills :
