Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to actively pursue new business opportunities across our B2B (business to business) English business (Teaching and Assessment) and Schools Exams Services business. The role covers a large market or geography, or key industries, identifying new prospects, initiating contact, and managing inbound leads to qualify and convert them. In locations with larger teams, the role may also include team leadership responsibilities.
Role Accountabilities
We are looking for a driven and strategic Business Development Manager to lead the identification and conversion of new business opportunities across a designated territory. In this role, you will connect with potential clients using targeted profiles and business intelligence, generate leads through networking and social selling, and respond to inbound enquiries with speed and precision. You will conduct initial needs analysis to assess opportunity size and type, qualify leads using a global framework, and nurture prospects through regular engagement and tailored content until they are ready to convert.
As part of the Global Sales Capability function, you will also supervise and manage Business Development Officers within your territory, ensuring performance targets are met and supporting the coordination of meetings, events, webinars, and marketing initiatives. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure efficient service delivery, monitor task completion, and uphold quality standards. Your leadership will be key to maintaining a high‑performing team and delivering consistent results.
Your role will also involve capturing and managing client data and business intelligence in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and other systems to build insights into our corporate audience and evaluate the effectiveness of our sales and marketing efforts. You will contribute to reporting on sales and service activity, conduct market research, and use data to identify opportunities for performance improvement. By maintaining an up‑to‑date understanding of British Council English and Assessment products, you will present our offerings effectively and work with Marketing to develop compelling messaging and sales collateral that resonates with our target audiences.
