To manage, coach, and guide the Meetings & Events (M&E) team, driving sales effectiveness, staff development, and customer satisfaction as the core of revenue performance. Responsible for achieving monthly budget / forecast targets for Banquet & Catering revenue, ensuring sales excellence, and enhancing Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur’s profile in the local and international M&E market through proactive client engagement and partnerships with DMCs, PCOs, and related agencies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Achieve and exceed monthly budget / forecast for Meetings & Events and Banquet & Catering segments.
- Conduct a minimum of 20 weekly sales calls and secure at least 2 new qualified accounts per month.
- Manage a portfolio of 50–60 accounts including corporates, MNCs, embassies, government, PCOs, DMCs, tourism bodies, and KLCC.
- Work with Rooms Sales to maximize room nights, average rates, and revenue from groups, events, and ad hoc bookings.
- Ensure conversion rate from group enquiries meets hotel standards (55%) and evaluate all group bookings based on total hotel revenue yield.
- Oversee RFP process for groups with DOS / DOSM, supporting global sales offices and group bids.
- Develop and monitor group rate levels, forecasts (monthly, 3-month, 12-month), and tactical action plans with DOSM and Revenue Director.
Account & Market Development
Build and maintain strong client relationships via direct solicitation, site inspections (minimum 2 per week), entertainment, and roadshows (local & international).Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and conversion of competitor key accounts (“hit list”).Champion development of innovative meeting packages and F&B offerings with F&B Director to ensure competitiveness and differentiation.Lead, coach, and train M&E team to drive sales effectiveness and maintain service excellence.Monitor and review account production, sales calls, forecasts, and action plans; provide feedback and recommend training where needed.Conduct weekly and monthly sales meetings, daily briefings, and brainstorming sessions to improve performance.Operations & Collaboration
Ensure all contracts, rates, and proposals comply with hotel guidelines and revenue management systems.Coordinate with Sales Coordinators for competitor event monitoring, group arrivals, VIP requirements, and guest communications.Collaborate with Kitchen, F&B, and Banquet Operations teams to deliver high-quality event experiences.Represent the hotel as brand ambassador in all guest and client interactions, promoting service excellence and teamwork.Leadership Skills & Attributes Required
