Position : Project Manager cum Business Analyst

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager (PMP Certified) to lead and deliver technology and business transformation initiatives within the banking and insurance environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects in alignment with strategic objectives, ensuring delivery within defined scope, timeline, and budget while maintaining compliance with governance, risk, and security frameworks.

The incumbent acts as both Project Manager (governing delivery, timelines, and vendor performance) and Business Analyst (driving requirements, process mapping, testing, and user adoption).

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end project delivery across IT, digital transformation, and regulatory or operational enhancement initiatives.

Develop comprehensive project plans including scope, milestones, deliverables, resource allocation, cost estimation, and risk mitigation.

Manage project execution in line with SDLC, Agile, or hybrid methodologies depending on project type.

Coordinate cross-functional teams including IT, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Vendors to ensure successful project outcomes.

Track and report project progress, risks, and financial performance to senior management and stakeholders.

Ensure alignment of project objectives with corporate strategy, compliance, and governance policies.

Prepare and present project status updates, steering committee reports, and post-implementation reviews.

Drive process improvements and adoption of best practices in project governance and delivery.

Manage vendor relationships and contract deliverables where third-party involvement is required.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the project team.

Gather, analyse, and validate business and functional requirements for general insurance operations (Underwriting, Policy, Claims, Reinsurance, Finance, etc.).

Perform as-is / to-be process mapping, identify pain points, and recommend system enhancements.

Translate business requirements into functional specifications, BRDs, and user stories for the vendor or in-house development team.

Coordinate and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring traceability between requirements, test cases, and defect resolution.

Work closely with product owners, underwriters, claims, finance, and IT teams to validate configuration and workflows.

Support data migration, cutover planning, and reconciliation between legacy and new core systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is mandatory.

Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance systems implementation, with at least 3 years in project management or business analysis roles.

Insurance domain knowledge motor, fire, marine, engineering, PA, health, travel.

Proven delivery experience in Core General Insurance Systems

Familiarity with insurance business processes - Underwriting, Policy Issuance, Endorsements, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Regulatory Reporting.

Strong understanding of integration interfaces (motor, JPJ, payment gateway, agent / broker portals).

Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid) and PMO governance frameworks.

Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving systems integration, regulatory compliance, or process re-engineering.

Excellent understanding of financial industry standards such as BCP, IT Governance, Data Privacy, and Regulatory Compliance (e.g., BNM, PDPA).

Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, or Asana.

Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and risk management.

Business requirement documentation (BRD / FRD), process mapping (BPMN), and data analysis.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.
